Great Snacks
We can't help but notice what healthy snacks the students are bringing to school. They are balanced with the once in a while treats. The students are choosing their fruits and vegetables along with their favorites. Juice boxes, when the occasional one comes to school, are being sent back home in backpacks as our school nurse advises that the best option is water or non-sugared drinks.

Bus Passes are Coming Home Today
Some of the students who ride the bus were given their bus passes today. Southland bussing requires all students to scan their pass when entering and exiting the bus. We ask that this pass is easily accessible so that is process is quick and easy. We recommend getting a cover and lanyard that attached to their backpack.
Reminders:
- Library books are due every Monday and Thursday. Please bring all library books back to school
- No school for any students on Friday, October 26. It is a non-instructional day

Tomorrow is Picture Day!
Picture Day Tomorrow
Just a reminder that tomorrow individual pictures are being taken and students wear their formal uniform. Class pictures and retakes are scheduled for later in November and we'll inform you at a later date when those are happening.
In the Classroom
Students are continuing to work on their printing of the letter "g". They are doing a picture of a girl for the letter g in their alphabet scrapbooks. Books about goats, giraffes and other animals and topics that start with g are being read in the classroom. Students are brainstorming lists of words that begin with g and are practicing their sounds daily. Parents can continue to read and identify "g" words in your reading at home. It's also a great way to learn new vocabulary words.
This week in math students are learning different ways of representing the numbers 1 and 2 and are working on the concept of quantity. Math centers are providing opportunities to explore numbers and practice representing quantities using different ways.
Library
Tomorrow is library day and if students are finished with their book or books please return them tomorrow.

Challenges!
Today was a day full of different challenges that our kindergarten students were asked to participate in. During centre time students are often challenged to build objects and structures to meet certain criteria. For example, "Can you build a bridge that can hold 3 dinosaurs?" or "Can you build a tower that is taller than you?".
Frisbee Rob also challenged students to limit their screen time. The goal is no screens for one whole day!
We can't wait to hear who accepts this challenge!

Frisbee Rob
Thorncliffe is welcoming Rob McLeod on Wednesday October, 10. He is known as “Frisbee Rob”. Frisbee Rob is a motivational speaker and a frisbee ambassador who lives in Calgary. Currently, he has 6 Guinness World Records and 12 World Championships.
Frisbee Rob will start the day with an assembly to introduce himself and share how the virtues of persistence, patience, positivity and pride helped him with his achievements. For the rest of the day, Rob will work with the teachers to lead regularly scheduled PE classes to build frisbee skills with students. Through sponsorship, we are able to offer this program to our families for free.

More Snow On The Way
What a difference a day makes! There were some challenges with getting ready and some practice at home with putting on snow pants, doing up jackets and making sure students can put on and take off their boots would be appreciated.
Just a reminder that library books are exchanged on Monday and Thursday.
Most students have their names on their uniform cardigans, shoes and outerwear but please check if your child's belongings are labelled. There are duplicate winter jackets, shoes and boots in the same sizes and a label will ensure the correct item goes home to you.
No school this Friday and Monday.
With more snow on the way stay safe and warm!
