Healthy Eating

Today our school nurse gave a presentation to each of the kindergarten classes. They discussed
the importance of making healthy food choices and learned about 3 different food groups. They then played a game to sort different foods into the correct food group. Ask your child what an example of a protein is.

Updates and Correction

Correction
Please note that the letter that went home for Ms. Phillips for the field trip On May 15th has an error in the times.  The field trip is May 15th for both classes.  AM class leaves on the field trip at 9:30 and returns to the school at 11:30.  The PM class leaves at 1:30 and returns at 3:30.  We're very sorry for the time mishap.

Student Mail
Field trip forms went home yesterday so please check your child's backpack and return the forms by May 8th.  Students will also be bringing home a form for students' shoe sizes for bowling.

Volunteers
We are still hoping that we have parents who come forward to volunteer so both classes can attend the field trip.  Without adequate supervision we will have to cancel.

Bears in a Cave

We have been learning our Friendly Tens in kindergarten (addition to ten - 1 and 9, 2 and 8 etc). A great way to practice these numbers is to play the game called Bears in a Cave. Bears in a  Cave is a simple game using a cup and ten objects.  The counters can be any smaller items that fit under the cup or bowl.  One player closes their eyes while the other one puts a number of objects under the cup.  The first player has to calculate how many items or objects are under the cup and says the corresponding math sentence.
