Friday Updates
Dear Parents and Guardians,
There is no school for all students this coming Monday, October 21st.
With the unpredictable weather and colder days please make sure that your student (s) are dressed for the weather! We're continuing our learning on the land and going out for gym classes so all students need to be wearing a jacket.
The colorful road art at the bus zone drop off spot was a parent council initiative. It is not a crosswalk and therefore cars are not legally required to stop when parents and students are crossing.
Please use caution when crossing or driving as the amount of traffic both cars and foot traffic makes this area one that requires your full attention.
Students did sorting for math this past week and engaged in math learning during centers. They sorted using color, shape and size as the sorting rules. We're continuing our math lessons outside and students are matching numbers with quantities using natural, found materials such as leaves, rocks, sticks etc.

Kindergarten News and Updates
Hello Parents and Guardians!
AM students only attend school this Friday. Thank you for remembering to pack a double snack or a lunch for Fridays!
The next weeks are short but busy times for Kindergarten. We are continuing our teaching and assessing for the EYE (Early Years Evaluation) with students participating in tasks and activities that support their learning across all areas of the assessment. The assessments will wrap up at the end of this month.
We'll be taking advantage of this great fall weather and we'll be heading out to do our math learning on the land. Students will use natural materials to match numbers with quantities to 10. We're looking forward to sharing this with you in the days to come.
Some gym classes are being held outside while the weather permits. Please have your children dress for the weather.
The letter this week is o. We're reading books and watching videos to practice letter recognition and the o graphemes. Reading books at home and having your child identify the letter o in the initial and middle of words is helpful practice.
A reminder to please not drop off or park in the bussing zone. It is a safety concern and as winter approaches it is especially problematic for the students and the bus drivers.

Kindergarten Reminders
Hello,
PM students attend this Friday.
Please return any library books this Thursday. Tuesday and Thursday are both library days for both classes.
This week is the letter f and students are brainstorming words that start with f. We're reading books, watching videos with opportunities to practice graphemes and identify initial sounds in words.
Parents can work with their child (children) on the conventions of printing by having them practice their name with an upper case letter for the first letter only. Students are using all upper case or a combination of upper and lower. We're working on the correct usage of capitalization.
For the safety of all of the children and to support our bus drivers in their work to keep your children safe please have your children and any children in your care enter and exit your vehicles from the sidewalk side. Children are at risk and bus drivers are expressing their concern when children are crossing in front of busses. The street is very narrow and the amount of traffic at these times requires additional vigilance!
Thank you,
Ms. Phillips and Mr. Larson
