Letter C
This week we are learning about letter 'c'. During daily printing we only focus on lower-case letters throughout the year. Did you know that letter 'c' has two sounds? C as in cat and c as in city or circus. We encourage you to read books daily to your child and to look through them with your child and find words that start with the 'c'.
Happy Reading!
Reminders:
- Please make sure all of your child's clothing (especially sweaters) are labelled with their name
- Library books are due every Monday and Thursday
- AM students only on Friday - No school for PM students this Friday
- Orange Shirt Day is on October 1st - Students are welcome to wear an orange shirt or their regular uniform if they do not have an orange shirt. We will explain the purpose of this day in another blog post.

Important Information About Bussing
Bus Safety for am Kindergarten students:
Southland Transportation and school staff will practice school bus evacuation exercises the morning of Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Colonel Sanders School. When the busses arrive at Colonel Sanders School in the morning, all students on the bus, including Thorncliffe Kindergarten students will practice how to safely exit a bus in case there was ever an emergency.
This practice usually only takes a few minutes and students usually arrive at Thorncliffe School on time to start their day at 9:15 am. If they arrive after the bell at 9:15 am we will not mark them as late.
Thank You!
Thanks to all of you for attending the conferences and it was a pleasure to meet with you and share your child's first days of school and learning.
Have a great weekend!

This Week In TLC Kindergarten
A short but busy week!
Parent Teacher Interviews
If you haven't yet booked and would like to schedule a time please email your teacher for availability.
Thank you to those of you who have met to share and discuss your child's learning and supporting us in getting to know your children.
The Terry Fox Run
The Terry Fox Run was a big success with all of our Kindergarten students participating and running or walking the course. Thank you for dressing your children for the weather.
Routines
Students are settling in and continuing to learn the school and classroom rules and routines. This is going well as we continue our work on teaching and using our visual schedules to support students in their transition into our school and Kindergarten.
Gym
In gym we are playing games and doing activities that promote fairness, taking turns and co-operation with others.
Library
A reminder that students return their library books on Mondays and Thursdays. Library days are exciting and they really enjoy time spent choosing and sharing their books. Please continue to read to your child on a daily basis. Parents can read the library books a few times before returning them.
